History of IPITA

The history of IPITA is a project intiated by Raja Kandaswamy (IPITA President 2021-2023) who enlisted long-standing members Bernhard Hering (IPITA President 2013–2015) and one of our pioneers Raymond Rajotte to gather information for this first draft of our history. Mission

The International Pancreas and Islet Transplant Association aims to cure diabetes by:

  • Promoting research and training relevant to transplantation of insulin producing tissue for the treatment and cure of diabetes.
  • Providing a scientific forum for the exchange and discussion of clinical and experimental results from all disciplines relevant to transplantation of insulin producing tissue.
  • Facilitating engagement between clinicians, researchers and all stakeholders including people affected by diabetes.
